Creamy Caramel Apple Dip
Its apple picking season, y’all! The kids are back in school. The evenings are beginning to have a brisk chill, no matter what the daytime temperatures may have been. My heart begins to turn to the sweet flavors that are the hallmarks of the fall season.
To me, the start of fall tends to unleash my inner baker, and the cravings for all things apple and pumpkin related. Can anyone relate to this? Unfortunately, in Southern California, the high temperatures of summer can last well into October. My baker heart is at odds with the practicality of not turning on the oven in the heat.
Fortunately, it IS possible to enjoy the delightful taste of those crisp fall days I grew up with in the midwest. Simply by mixing a few delicious ingredients, you get this creamy caramel apple dip.
I really enjoy bringing fun appetizers and easy dips to work potlucks and for gathering of friends. I have brought this caramel apple dip on several occasions, and the result has been the same each time. Inevitably someone wants to start eating it with a spoon, and wishes they could lick the bowl clean.
This recipe is really simple to make. Using only 4 ingredients, just take an electric hand mixer and blend until all the lumps are removed and the dip is smooth and creamy. By refrigerating for a few hours prior to serving, the flavors blend together beautifully.
While many apple varieties can be used, I prefer to use a combination of pink lady and granny smith varieties. The delectable crunch of these types complements the smooth, creamy caramel apple dip in a way that just melts in your mouth.
Give this recipe a try for your next get together with friends, or the your next work potluck. You – and your friends – will be glad you did!
